Together with Concord City Schools, Kannapolis City Schools, and the Office of the District Attorney of Cabarrus County, Conflict Resolution Center developed a program to serve parents who have been charged with School Attendance Law Violations due to their child’s absences from school. Program participants must come in for regular court hearings to check their progress on completing program requirements. Parents must complete Level 4 of the Positive Parenting Program, an intensive, eight-session program that is designed to prevent and treat behavioral, emotional, and developmental problems in children and adolescents by providing parents with tools and techniques to manage these behaviors. Participation in the program has made significant strides in reducing repeated violations and improving school attendance in Cabarrus County.
